Dessert Challenge
The dessert featured in the photograph on the left is called Topfenstrudel, a cheese strudel. The pastry is made with sweet soft quark cheese, which in Germany is known as Topfen cheese. The delicious pastry has a sweet filling inside, and is often served with cream on the side. The pastry was moist and tasted unlike anything I have ever had at home. Usually in the United States, strudels and cakes are often topped with overbearing amounts of icing. Topfenstrudel, however, has light powdered sugar on top of its crunchy crust creating just enough of a sweet sensation for a cake lover. The cake had raisins inside and in every bite you could taste the sweet cheese. While I tried a variety of new desserts and candies, topfenstrudel was the tastiest of all the desserts I can remember tasting in Germany.
Below is a slideshow of our cake tasting afternoon and the bakery that we bought all of our cakes from!
