I located a McDonald's while walking around the streets of Rome. As I walked inside, I instantly noticed the "easy order" system in the middle of the fast-food restaurant. The large grey boxes featured a touchscreen featuring the McDonald's menu. I had never witnessed this in the United States and thought that this was interesting in showing how technologically advanced European countries are a part from the United States.
The McDonald's menu featured items I had seen at home such as a BigMac, a McChicken, a quater pounder, Filet-O-Fish and Chicken Mcnuggets. The McDonald's menu, however, featured some items that I was not familiar with at home. The menu featured a share box, which customers could buy a 15-piece meal filled with different types of chicken nuggets such as nuggets filled with spinach or brié cheese. The menu also featured different combinations unlike the United States. The combinations were called "MyMenu" meals and customers could receive a sandwich and a drink. The McDonald's menu also featured sliced chips, a food I was unfamiliar with in United States' McDonald's. I thought that the Italian version of McDonald's was more appealing than the United States restaurants because of the different options available. Overall, I felt that the Italian McDonald's offered more healthy options than McDonald's in the United States. The McMenu an MyMenu options provided customers with options but not at the cost of adding an excessive amount of fat that a super-sized meal in the United States might give a customer. |
